- Practise notated music
- Discuss the selection of repertoire suitable for practice and performance with appropriate people
- Analyse the musical conventions for chord sequences and music systems, rhythms, time signatures and beat patterns relevant to own instrument or voice
- Practise reading music with accurate realisation of rhythmic, melodic and harmonic ideas according to own instrument or voice
- Adhere to the required conventions of form and music structures
- Interpret dynamics and expression marks
- Practise accuracy of intonation
- Apply knowledge of style and genre to playing or singing own pieces/songs
- Seek guidance from appropriate personnel, and adjust techniques as required
- Present performances of notated music
- Perform melodic and rhythmic structures of music accurately
- Perform harmonic structures where required
- Demonstrate appropriate stylistic conventions
- Apply suitable tuning for selected music as required
- Listen critically, and adjust own performance in the context of a group performance as required
- Recognise any errors in performance, and mitigate appropriately to ensure continuity of performance
- Observe work health and safety (WHS) principles relevant to reading music and performing
- Enhance music reading skills
